Master Planning

EEC can prepare master plans for utility planning purposes. Master plans help utilities identify long-term trends affecting their systems. These plans predict areas of growth, available groundwater resources, optimum plant site locations, potential distribution system routings, and expected demand. All of this information is necessary for preparing logical long-term capital improvement planning.

Service Areas Include:

  • Water Master Plans
  • Wastewater Evaluations
  • Basin Studies
  • Water System Assessments
  • Sewer Inspections
  • Feasibility Studies

Project Experience:

Marana Water Master Plan, Marana, Arizona

EEC prepared a water master plan to assist Marana's municipal water utility. The plan provided hydraulic modeling of multiple scenarios for the 20-year planning horizon and an analysis of selected water service strategies.

Ina Road Biosolids Bladder and Equipment Evaluation, Pima County, Arizona

EEC evaluated the sludge containment bladder and prepared an engineering report for odor control improvements at the Ina Road WPCF. We also prepared an engineering report evaluating sludge processing equipment.

Corona de Tucson Basin Study, Pima County, Arizona

EEC prepared a basin study and treatment plant capacity study for Pima County Wastewater Management Department. We defined the limits of the sewage basin study based on area topography, geographic features, political boundaries, and existing infrastructure.

Summerset/Sabino Mountain Interconnect Pipeline, Tucson, Arizona

EEC investigated the feasibility and design of installing approximately 700 linear feet of 8-inch water main. The project involved the evaluation of directionally boring the water main through steep slopes in a pristine desert through an upscale housing community.

Santa Cruz Interceptor Design Report, Tucson, Arizona

EEC prepared an analysis of an existing sewer interceptor, documenting the existing flow and level of corrosion. The project included a basin study to estimate future flows and an evaluation as to whether the existing sewer was sized adequately for future growth.

Kitt Peak Water System Assessment, Pima County, Arizona

EEC prepared a potable water system evaluation of Kitt Peak's 30+ year old water system. The evaluation consisted of performing interviews with ADEQ and Kitt Peak operations personnel, reviewing existing water quality regulations, and performing field inspections of the water system.

Avra Valley Wastewater Treatment Facility Basin Study, Avra Valley, Arizona

EEC prepared a basin study for an outlying wastewater facility in a rapidly developing area. Included in the study were estimates of future development, land uses, and population densities, in terms of the amount of wastewater these developments would produce. EEC also evaluated the existing treatment capacity of the facility and the expected ultimate capacity of the existing facility.
