Asbestos and Lead-Based Paint Inspections

EEC asbestos building inspectors, management planners, lead-based paint inspectors, and risk assessors are available on short notice for quick report turnaround. We have completed hundreds of inspections for asbestos-containing materials and lead-based paint in structures ranging from small sheds to large high-rise structures. EEC uses our X-ray Fluorescence (XRF) analyzer for lead-based paint surveys. This instrument can produce hundreds of readings per day, providing instantaneous information with no marks as opposed to the "scrape and analyze" protocol which leaves blemishes, is several days slower, and is more costly per sample.

Service Areas Include:

  • Asbestos Inspections
  • Asbestos Operation and Maintenance Plans
  • Paint Inspections
  • Paint Assessments
  • Surveys for Demolition

Project Experience:

Asbestos and Lead Testing, Tucson Airport Authority/Tucson International Airport, Arizona

Annually, EEC performs limited asbestos and lead-based paint inspections at 110 residences as part of TAA's on-going soundproofing project. We have also completed an asbestos operation and maintenance plan that encompasses all buildings under the control of airport operations. In addition, we complete remodeling surveys as needed. Work sites have included the control tower, main terminal, executive terminal, and outlying buildings and hangars. At Ryan Field, EEC has made inspections at the tower, various outbuildings, and at private residences slated for demolition as the airfield expands.

Asbestos Sampling at Northwest Hospital, Tucson, Arizona

EEC has performed asbestos inspections over the past 7 years at Northwest Medical Center during its upgrade and expansion construction. Each sampling event targeted only areas of the existing structure that were disturbed during remodeling or tie-in for new construction.

Indian Health Service Facilities, Yuma and Phoenix, Arizona

EEC completed comprehensive asbestos and lead-based paint inspections at the Yuma Medical Health Center and for two floors of the Phoenix Indian Medical Center. EEC performed a reinspection of the Intensive Care Unit, 2nd Floor East, at the Phoenix Indian Medical Center in order to update the original Asbestos Building Inspection Report.

Raymond Bliss Army Health Center, Fort Huachuca, Arizona

EEC conducted an asbestos inspection to identify and quantify asbestos containing building materials (ACBM) on all five floors of the health center. Samples of suspected ACBM were collected from inside the facility (floor coverings, interior walls, ceiling and piping), and from a utility crawl space that required confined-space protocol for entry.

U.S. Postal Service, Tucson, Arizona

EEC performed a residual lead contamination survey that included air monitoring and wipe samples following a cleanup of a former printing facility and prior to acquisition of the property by the U.S. Postal Service for a mail sorting facility.
